5 Gallon Bucket Drip Irrigation
If you are leaving home for an extended period of time then a bucket drip irrigation setup is a great mobil solution for keeping you plants alive
What you need:
Bucket with lid
1/4 flexible drip line
Fiberglass window screen or a 1/4 inch irrgation adapter with a screen on it
Drill
Adjustable drippers
Step 1
Drill a a 3/16 hole in the bottom-side of the bucket and insert the 1/4 drip line
Step 2
Cut out a piece of the fiberglass window screen and wrap it around the 1/4 flexible drip line and secure it will twisty tie. This will serve as a filter so that any sediment in the bucket willnot clog the dripper. This is the most cost effective way is to make the filter. If you are willing to spend $5-$6 for a filter then you can buy a 1/4 inch irrgation adapter with a screen on it.
Step 3
On the other side of the 1/4 flexible drip line attach an adjustable dripper
Step 4
Fill with water and make sure there is hole in the lid. It also helps to raise up the bucket above the plant so that all the water in the bucket empties out.
I see that you've been using this for a while. How did it work out? Do you have to elevate the bucket, or can you sit it on the ground? Thanks for the info.
